Child Passenger Safety Sept. 16 - 22


In 2010, 655 children (age 12 and younger in a passenger vehicle) were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes, 64% of whom were restrained.

• Also in 2010, an estimated 119,000 children (age 12 and younger in a passenger vehicle) were injured in motor vehicle traffic crashes.

• In 2009, 161 Hispanic children (age 12 and younger in a passenger vehicle) were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes in the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

• 3 out of 4 kids are not as secure in the car as they should be because their car seats are not being used correctly.

• Using the correct restraints reduces infants’ and toddlers’ chances for fatal injury by 71% and 54% in passenger cars respectively.

Friends Bus Adventure

Just a reminder!  The Friends of the Talcott Library Bus Adventure will leave Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 am promptly from the Old Stone Church at 101 E. Union Street.  If you have purchased a spot, we will see you there!  Let us know how you enjoy the day.

Flu Shots Offered @ Talcott

Stop by the library Thursday, October 18 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm and get your flu shot!  Winnebago County Health Department will be at the library.  Flu shots are $30.00.  For more information, click the link below at Winnebago County Health Department.

National Libary Card Sign Up Month

To get a library card, you must bring in proof of Talcott Free Library residency in the form of one ID with your current name and address. Children, ages 6 and up are allowed to get a library card with a parent/guardian.
Get a Talcott library card in September and receive a free Talcott DVD/video coupon and be entered in a special drawing for some "fabulous" prizes!
